Briarwood Bugle 2018
Week 6

From Matt and Mike
Time flies when you’re having fun! We had another great week—the Busy Bees put on an UNBELIEVABLE show, the CITs loved New York City, Carnival with waterslides was awesome, the Super CITs enjoyed the Escape Room, Lower Camp and Upper Camp did their thing (actually — they did a TON of their things) and now all the camp has left is Color War (Go Gold Wild Islanders! Go Blue City Slickers!), Briarwood’s 33rd Birthday Celebration, Busy Bee Graduation, the Drama Show, the Gym Show, the Campwide Epic But Totally Optional Wiffle Ball Tournament, Tie Dye Tuesday, Mystery Day, the CIT/Super CIT Dance and on and on . . . Until next week! – M&M

Out and About with the Otterly Outrageous Otters By Howard Gottlieb
The Otter den has been having an otterly amazing time these last six weeks of camp. I, along with our JC, Mason, and our CITs, Brandon, Stephen, and Shawn, have been having a blast with this otterly outstanding group of Otters. The boys have been playing gaga every chance they can get. In fact, it is Brady, Miles, Tyler, Braeden, Zac, Braydon, and Mason’s favorite activity at camp. Owen loves flying down the zip line at the rock wall. Charlie is always hitting the ball out of the yard at wiffleball. Hudson keeps scoring goal after goal at indoor soccer. Sadly, this week we are losing three Otters – Tyler, Owen, and our JC, Mason. They will be missed! On the bright side, we welcome a new JC into the Otter den – Dan. We all are looking forward to two more otterly exciting weeks of camp!

SPORTS CENTER BY HARRIS SAX AND BEN SMITH

This week Briarwood held its 2nd annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Sixteen teams named for different colleges competed for a shot at the title. When it was all over, Kansas beat Purdue and took the championship. Team members were Grayson, Jake and CJ. Special honorable mention goes to the defensive MVP, Victor from the Bulldogs. Congratulations to all that participated. With two weeks left, Briarwood is not done with its big, inclusive sporting events. In addition to Color War next week, Week 8 brings the Wiffle Ball Tournament, the Briarwood Marathon and lots more!

MEET EVEN MORE OF OUR WONDERFULLY AMAZING STAFF!

Can you believe it? We have even more senior staff members that have not been
profiled in the Briarwood Bugle.

ALLIE ZATCOFF is celebrating her 16th summer at Briarwood Day Camp. This summer Allie can be found having the best summer ever as senior counselor to the Gazelles. Allie, a student at Temple University, is studying Public Health. Her favorite thing about Briarwood is playing newcomb. If she could go anywhere in the world, Allie would go to Paris for Fashion Week.

STEPHANIE CLARK returns to Briarwood after taking a few years off with her adorable sons, Ayden and Shane. Stephanie first made Briarwood her summer home in 1986! Her favorite thing about Briarwood is being surrounded family. During the off season Stephanie is a kindergarten teacher for the School District of Philadelphia.

RACHAEL FELDGUS has been a part of the Briarwood family for 13 summers. Rachael, a graduate of the University of Miami, is a kindergarten teacher. Rachael loves the people at Briarwood and her favorite food is pizza.
Please Note: There will be NO aftercare on the last day of camp.
