Briarwood Bugle 2022-Week 6

From Mike and Matt

Time flies when you’re having fun!  We had another great week—the Busy Bees put on an UNBELIEVABLE show, the CITs and Super CITs enjoyed the beach, Carnival with amazing elements (Massive inflatables!  Spinning rides! Face painting!) was awesome, the Gymnastics Club show was awesome, Lower Camp and Upper Camp did their thing (actually — they did a TON of their things) and now all the camp has left is Color War (Go Solid Gold 70’s!  Go Blue Nifty 50’s!), Briarwood’s 37th Birthday Celebration, Busy Bee Graduation, the Camp wide Epic But Totally Optional Wiffleball Tournament, Briarwood Set a Record Week, Tie Dye Tuesday, Mystery Day, the Briarwood Marathon, the CIT/Super CIT Dance and on and on . . . Until next week! – M&M

The Jags! By Nate Frankel and Aiden Stepansky

What a year it’s been! Aiden, Jake and I have had an absolute blast hanging with these guys and it’s not over yet. We sometimes do things differently- we play full camp hide and seek, we dance to crazy songs, but most importantly we have a blast in everything we do. As the summer goes along, we have become more and more impressed with the character, demeanor and maturity of this group of young men. Whether its leagues, wiffleball, art, ropes or the bunk show, these guys have given it their all and it’s been a ton of fun. We have a lot of camp left and we can’t wait for what’s next!

Cheetah Power! By Sophia Levy

Wow! We can’t believe that there are only two weeks left! The Cheetahs have been keeping busy running, tumbling, jumping in the pool, and making amazing camp memories. Cayla and Bella have been zooming down the zip line at rockwall. Taylor was amazing in the Gymnastics Show and showed us all of her fantastic tricks. In art, SophieEva, and Macy have created beautiful projects, while Ryan J. and Kayla love doing gimp stitches. Giuliana won the lower girl’s gaga tournament, and the Cheetahs were happy to cheer her onto victory. We had so many holes-in-one at minigolf this week! Parker took the lead with 7 holes-in-one, but Ryan F and Kayla were close behind. LuciaSaia, and Teddy have been practicing their front crawl in the pool and Reagan loves going down the slide at free swim! Elinor and Stella love jumping on the jumper, it’s always fun to see who can jump the highest! Throughout the next two weeks, the Cheetahs are ready to keep smiling, laughing, and showing our Cheetah Power!!

MEET EVEN MORE OF OUR WONDERFULLY AMAZING STAFF!

Can you believe it? We present even more senior staff members that have not yet been

profiled in the Briarwood Bugle.

CJ HORAN is celebrating his 10th summer at Briarwood Day Camp. During the off-season CJ is a student at Bloomsburg University studying Mass Communications. CJ began making Briarwood his summer home as a 10-year-old in Spencer Glass’s bunk. This summer, CJ is senior counselor to the Bobcats. CJ’s favorite thing about Briarwood is the unplugged fun in the sun! If he were an animal, he would be a turtle in Briarlake. People would be surprised to learn that CJ is from Chicago!

NATE FRANKEL has made Briarwood his summer home for 13 lucky summers. Nate, a student at West Chester University, enjoys playing golf and hanging out with his friends and dog in his spare time. This summer Nate is counselor of the amazing Jaguars. Nate’s favorite thing about Briarwood are the people and the blue popsicles. If he could travel anywhere, he would go to Oregon to play golf. People would be surprised to learn that Nate can play the piano and he enjoys country music.

While it never rains at Briarwood, in the event of a passing shower, please send your camper with the appropriate rain gear should the forecast call for rain.

Everyone should apply sunscreen daily prior to coming to camp.

We have a lost and found at camp. It gets pretty full this time of year.  Campers’ items should be marked or labeled before they come to camp.
