Briarwood Bugle – 2023 Week 4

Check out our latest Briarwood Bugle! You can read it below or see it in glorious color and with photos week 4 2023

From Mike and Matt
Can you believe that camp is halfway done? We sure can’t! We had another amazing week—Lower and Upper Camp Bunk Shows (great dancing and even better smiles), Halloween in July (fantastic costumes!), Wednesday Themeday – Disney/Marvel Day, tie dying and much, much more.
We’ve got more amazingness next week – Wednesday is Crazy Hat Day (always a photo favorite!), it’s S’more Week at Nature, Friday is Goofy Day, we’ve got our Upper Camp Totally Optional 3 on 3 Basketball tournament and much more! And still to come: Busy Bee Show, Gymnastics Show, Drama Show, Carnival, Color War, Mystery Day, the list goes on and on. Can’t wait!
And on another note, we wanted to say thank you to our camp families and staff. It takes a village to make this camp go and we appreciate everyone’s thoughtfulness, dedication and understanding. We appreciate everything!

The Tremendous Tigers! By Danny Simon and Lucas Hubbard
Briarwood Day Camp is so lucky to have such an amazing group of second grade boys this summer! Each child has thrived in their own individual way throughout the first four weeks of camp. In the gaga pit, Grant and Seth dominate every game they go into, constantly being a threat to anyone they are facing. In softball, Adam, Slayde, and Ben never disappoint, showing their enthusiasm and competitive fire. Going over to the pool, you see Shane, Jacob and Leo are looking like minnows out there, growing more as swimmers every day and having fun doing it! Also, if you were to ever pass the soccer field while the Tigers were playing, you would most definitely see William, Jase and Jacob absolutely taking control of the game, demonstrating their clear love for the sport! However, the most important aspect of the Tigers is their kindness to each other and the rest of camp, clearly showing respect and positivity wherever they go. Lastly, this wonderful start to the summer would not be possible without the tremendous help of our JC Michael Shea and CIT’s Cole, Matt, Declan, and Jack. Here’s to four more weeks of Briarwood fun! Go Tigers!

Bees Are Buzzin’ By: Anne Witkin

It has been a fantastic first four weeks for the Briarwood Busy Bees.
The Bees got off to a great start. Our kids from last season jumped right in and our new Busy Bees took all of one day to realize how fun camp is going to be. As I walk around camp, I see little heads blowing bubbles and going underwater during swim. I see our Bees ziplining off the rock wall. I see creative minds flourishing during art and learning skills when engaged with our sports staff. Our kiddos have enjoyed playing with their 4th grade buddies. It is sweet to watch. But there is so much more! Halloween in July was a thrill for these cuties! Smiles were ear to ear. Coming week 6…. The Busy Bee show! Our Bees have been practicing for their bunk show. It is going to be amazing, and we have a special surprise for our audience at the end of the show. I am looking forward to an action-packed fun filled remaining 4 weeks!

SOME FRIENDLY BRIARWOOD REMINDERS:
• If you want to reach your camper’s counselor during the camp day, call the office at 215-598-7143 and we will gladly relay your message. Please do not TEXT or CALL your child’s counselor directly during the camp day. Our counselors are busy watching children and we have asked them not to check their phones during the day.
• Early and Late Care is available from 7:30 am—6:00 pm sharp. Please call the office if you will need this service.
• While it never rains at Briarwood, in the event of a passing shower, please send your camper with the appropriate rain gear should the forecast call for rain.
• Apply sunscreen daily prior to coming to camp.
• Please label all clothing and personal items. That said — and because we know
kids — our Lost and Found is located by the Sports Center on Upper Field.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO CAMP IF HE/SHE is NOT FEELING WELL
