Briarwood Bugle 2025
Week 4
From Mike and Matt
Can you believe that camp is halfway done? We sure can’t! We had another amazing week—Lower and Upper Camp Bunk Shows (great dancing and even better smiles), Halloween in July (fantastic costumes!), Wednesday Themeday – Disney/Marvel Day, tie dying, pickleballing, and much, much more.
We’ve got more amazingness next week – Wednesday Themeday is Hawaiian Shirt Day (always a photo favorite!), Friday is Goofy Day, we’ve got our Upper Camp Boys, Upper Camp Girls and 2nd—3rd Grade Boys Totally Optional 3 on 3 Basketball tournaments plus the usual awesomeness. And still to come: Busy Bee Show, Gymnastics Show, Drama Show, Carnival, Color War, Mystery Day, the list goes on and on. Can’t wait!
And on another note, we wanted to say thank you to our camp families and staff. It takes a village to make this camp go and we appreciate everyone’s thoughtfulness, dedication, kindness and enthusiasm. We appreciate everything!
The Courageous Cougars by Alex Lean
What an amazing first few weeks it’s been in the Cougars bunk! Our campers have hit the ground running, bringing their energy, enthusiasm, and team spirit to every activity. From soccer and basketball to wiffleball, hockey, archery, ropes, and even fishing – the Cougars are giving it their all and having a blast along the way.
Junior Counselor Hugh Kavitsky and I are so proud our bunk for their hard work and effort leading up to the bunk show, with a little extra inspiration and a lot of laughs fueled by our love for Steve’s legendary lava chicken! It’s hard to believe we’re already approaching the halfway point of the summer, but there’s still so much more fun and adventure ahead and we’re making the most of every moment.
Thanks for being part of the Cougar family. We can’t wait to share more memories with you soon!

The Buzzing Bumblebees by Kayla Abell
Our buzzing Bumblebees have had an awesome week at camp! We’ve been soaking up all the fun Briarwood has to offer—from dominating the Gaga pit and balling out on the courts, to dancing, swimming, crafting, and more. Everyone’s been showing off their amazing talents and energy in every activity.
JC Abby DiPentino and I are having the best time with the group and can’t wait for even more fun ahead!
SOME FRIENDLY BRIARWOOD REMINDERS:
• If you want to reach your camper’s counselor during the camp day, call the office at 215-598-7143 and we will gladly relay your message. Please do not TEXT or CALL your child’s counselor directly during the camp day. Our counselors are busy watching children and we have asked them not to check their phones during the day.
• Early and Late Care is available from 7:30 am—6:00 pm sharp. Please call the office if you will need this service.
• While it never rains at Briarwood, in the event of a passing shower, please send your camper with the appropriate rain gear should the forecast call for rain.
• Apply sunscreen daily prior to coming to camp.
• Our lost and found is located behind the sports shed. Please label your camper’s items!
• Did you miss a Bugle? You can find all of this summer’s Bugles in the news section of our website.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO CAMP IF HE/SHE is NOT FEELING WELL
MEET OUR WONDERFULLY AMAZING STAFF! PART III
We return with profiles of more senior staff members at Briarwood Day Camp
MAX ARTEAGA joins us at Briarwood for his 11th summer! He loves working with his friends and meeting new people. When he is not at camp, he enjoys going down the shore! During the school year, he attends University of Delaware. If he were an animal, he would be a dog and his favorite food is tacos. If he could travel anywhere, he would go to Cuba.
LEXI REINERT is enjoying her 11th summer at Briarwood. Lexi is a student at Penn State. She loves eating bagels and sushi and watching Friends. If she were an animal, she would be a dolphin and if she could travel anywhere, he would go to Greece! Lexi started at Briarwood when she was in the Starlings!
ELI FRANKEL is ecstatic to be back for his 17th summer! During the offseason, he attends West Chester University and studying Physical Education; it’s no wonder he loves playing and watching sports! His favorite thing about Briarwood is being outside with his friends. His favorite food is the bread that we use to feed the fish. His favorite book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. If he could be any animal in the world, he would be a bison.
