Briarwood Bugle 2026
Week 4

From Mike and Matt
Can you believe that camp is halfway done?  We sure can’t! We had another amazing week—Lower and Upper Camp Bunk Shows (great dancing and even better smiles), Halloween in July (fantastic costumes!), Wednesday Themeday – Disney/Marvel Day, tie dying, nine-squaring, tchoukballing (which made its triumphant return to upper camp) and much, much more.

We’ve got more amazingness next week – Wednesday Themeday is Hawaiian Shirt Day (always a photo favorite!), Friday is Goofy Day, we’ve got our various tournaments going on, Art and Ceramics will be bustling, it’s S’mores Week at Nature – plus we’ll have all of the usual awesomeness.   And still to come: Busy Bee Show, Gymnastics Show, Drama Show, Carnival, Color War, Mystery Day, the list goes on and on.  Can’t wait!

And on another note, we wanted to say thank you to our camp families and staff. It takes a village to make this camp go and we wanted to acknowledge everyone’s thoughtfulness, dedication, kindness and enthusiasm.  We appreciate everything!

The Rambunctious Raptors by Max Arteaga and Ian Goldberg
The Raptors have been out and about throughout the first few weeks of the summer. Cooper, Ryan W, Sam, Brayden, Tommy, and Lucas stayed active playing basketball, soccer, and tennis baseball.

Fishing is where the Raptors have really been shining, too! James, Zach, Brandon, Ryan L, and Gus are fishing naturals, catching a fish left and right.

Whether they were competing in sports, working together in team activities, or cheering on their friends, the Raptors are having an electric start to the summer!

Way to go!

The Fabulous Flamingos by Georgia Gobora
Emily, Audrey, Kendall, Maeve, Noa, Margot, Nitza, Siena, and Charley have had an unforgettable first four weeks at Briarwood! From practicing cartwheels in gymnastics and soaring down the zipline to scoring holes-in-one at mini golf, rocking out to “Best of Both Worlds” during bunk shows, and even celebrating a lost tooth, there’s never a dull moment with this bunch. Whether they’re cheering each other on, making new friends, laughing until their bellies hurt, or trying something new, the Flamingos bring kindness, confidence, and endless energy to every day. We are so proud of all they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see all the fun, memories, and adventures the next four weeks will bring.

SOME FRIENDLY BRIARWOOD REMINDERS:
• If you want to reach your camper’s counselor during the camp day, call the office at 215-598-7143 and we will gladly relay your message. Please do not TEXT or CALL your child’s counselor directly during the camp day. Our counselors are busy watching children and we have asked them not to check their phones during the day.
• Early and Late Care is available from 7:30 am—6:00 pm sharp. Please call the office if you will need this service.
• While it never rains at Briarwood, in the event of a passing shower, please send your camper with the appropriate rain gear should the forecast call for rain.
• Apply sunscreen daily prior to coming to camp.
• Our lost and found is located behind the sports shed. Please label your camper’s items!
• Did you miss a Bugle? You can find all of this summer’s Bugles in the news section of our website.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO CAMP IF HE/SHE IS NOT FEELING WELL

MEET OUR WONDERFULLY AMAZING STAFF! PART III
We return with profiles of more senior staff members at Briarwood Day Camp

GABBY CURRAN joins us at Briarwood for her first summer! She loves getting to watch the campers learn new skills and cheer on their friends. She is studying nuclear medicine at Millersville University. When she is not teaching gymnastics at camp, she is a member of her college dance team and a barre instructor! If she were an animal, she would be a turtle and her favorite food is chocolate. If she could travel anywhere, she would go to Ireland. Fun fact: she has a dalmation named Pongo!

SARA CHOBERT is enjoying her first summer at Briarwood, especially the welcoming staff and positive attitudes! She is having a great time as a senior counselor of her bunk, the Robins! Sara is a student at Millersville University. She loves eating green grapes and watching Survivor. If she could travel anywhere, she would go to Greece!

JARED GAYNOR is celebrating his lucky 13th summer at Briarwood. He started in the Bears bunk. During the offseason, he attends Bucks County Community College. His favorite thing about Briarwood is playing tennis baseball with his campers in the Falcons. His favorite food is popcorn chicken and his favorite movie is The Sandlot. He hopes to inspire his campers to also become future Spirit of the Hill Award winners as he did in 2019.
