Briarwood Bugle 2026
Week 5
From Mike and Matt
It has been another fantastic week at spectacularly amazing Briarwood Day Camp! This week may have been the epitome of summer!
We certainly enjoyed S’mores Week and Wednesday’s Hawaiian Shirt Day put us all in a happy and tropical mood. We had pickleball tournaments and a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. The Super CITs loved their trip to Hershey Park and had a supremely relaxing time tubing down the Delaware.
Gymnasts practiced for the Gym Show, and Busy Bees practiced for the Often Imitated Never Duplicated Busy Bee Show™. And then— on top of everything else — our “regular” camp stuff continued to amaze and astound! We ended the week with Goofy Day today and, well, it certainly earned its name!
It continues to be wonderful to see so many smiling, laughing kids all around camp.
As we said, next week is the Busy Bee Show—always a crowd pleaser featuring Briarwood’s cutest! And the Gym Show! Carnival is next week, too. The fun continues! Have a great weekend!

Mia, Grace, and Emma have been flipping through gymnastics! Ester and Alexis showed off their incredible swimming skills in the pool!
Ivy is our gaga superstar! Makayla and Ava have been working SO hard in the drama show and we can’t wait to see their performance! Lily slam dunks on the basketball court during the basketball tournament! The Doves are so excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store for us!

Nature News by Jenn Segal
All the campers are clamoring to get down to Briarlake for Nature this summer! We’ve enjoyed several exciting weeks so far.
The Sixth Annual Fishing Derby was a huge success. We caught more fish this year than ever before.
We spent a couple of weeks tie dyeing basically everything in camp that was white. It’s been a lot of fun seeing everyone in their colorful creations!
This week we fired up the fire pit for s’mores. We had a sticky good time roasting marshmallows and eating s’more.
We are excited to plant herbs and continue catching loads of bass and sunfish in the lake.
♫ Learn the ♫ Briarwood Song! ♫ We’ll sing it at camp!
PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO CAMP IF HE/SHE IS NOT FEELING WELL
MEET OUR WONDERFULLY AMAZING STAFF! PART IV
We return with profiles of more senior staff members at Briarwood Day Camp
JAKE GREEN has been attending Briarwood for 17 years, starting at 3 years old in the Tadpoles bunk. During the offseason, he attends the University of Delaware and enjoys playing sports. His favorite food is sushi and if he could be any animal, he would be a manatee. His favorite movie is 21 Jump Street. Jake’s favorite thing about Briarwood is the people you meet!
AVA ANGELAKIS is loving her first year at Briarwood! During the school year, Ava attends Rider University for grad school. Her favorite food is mac & cheese and the last book she read is James & the Giant Peach. If Ava were an animal, she would be a octopus. She would love to visit Italy some day.
Briarwood Presents: “Flipping for Villains or Heroes” By Rebecca Nahom
Briarwood Day Camp Gymnastics Club proudly presents our Gym Show 2026!! This year’s theme is The Descendants.
We are so lucky to have our biggest show yet, filled with awesome and inspiring gymnastic skills, fun and energetic dance moves and so many smiling faces.
Campers from nearly every bunk have come together to give you a must-see gym show. They have been working all summer to prepare for their big day. These talented campers will dazzle you with balancing, leaping and turning on the beam. They will astound you with their tumbling feats. They will wow you with their strength as they swing around the bars. And they will entertain you by jumping high in the air to clear the vault.
We cannot wait to show you what they have accomplished this year! We also want to thank all our CITs who have come and helped make this year’s show so successful. Way to go Briarwood gymnasts!

• If you want to reach your camper’s counselor during the camp day, call the office at 215-598-7143 and we will gladly relay your message. • While it never rains at Briarwood, in the event of a passing shower, please send your camper with the appropriate rain gear should the forecast call for rain.
• Everyone should apply sunscreen daily prior to coming to camp.
• We have a lost and found at camp. It gets pretty full this time of year. Campers’ items should be marked or labeled before they come to camp.
• Did you miss a Bugle? You can find all of this summer’s Bugles in the news section of our website.
