Briarwood Bugle 2021-Week 5

Check out our latest Briarwood Bugle!

You can read it below or see it in glorious color and with photos here.

Briarwood Bugle 2021 Week 5
From Mike and Matt It has been another amazing week at spectacularly awesome Briarwood Day Camp! Our All Camp Fishing Derby was a hit. Senior Camp enjoyed their second movie night under the Briarwood stars. The Super CITs had an awesome day at the beach and loved their trip to Hershey Park and our “regular” camp stuff continued to amaze and astound! We ended the week with Goofy Day today and, well, it certainly earned its name!
It continues to be fantastic to see so many smiling, laughing kids all around camp. It’s what everybody needed!
Next week is the Busy Bee Show—always a crowd pleaser featuring Briarwood’s cutest! Carnival is next week, too. The fun continues! Have a great weekend!

Who’s Rockin’ Bikini Briarbottom? The Otters, of Course! By Howard Gottlieb

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? THE BRIARWOOD OTTERS!!! Absorbent and yellow and porous are thee. THE BRIARWOOD OTTERS!!! If nautical nonsense be something that matters. THE BRIARWOOD OTTERS!!! Then drop on the deck and flop like the Otters! It has been an otterly amazing first half of camp so far. I, along with our Junior Counselor, Shawn, our Super CIT extraordinaire, Eli, and our CITs, Cole, Ben, Will and Marcus, have been having a blast with this otterly outstanding group of Otters. The Otters have just come off their Tony Award winning performance of The Best Day Ever at the Lower Camp Bunk Show and will begin their national tour after camp ends. In the meantime, the Otters have been playing their barnacles off all over camp. Dean, Thomas, and Nolan are knocking everyone out at gaga. Cooper has been hitting the ball out of the park at tennis baseball. Mason and Cameron enjoy swimming like the true otters that they are at the pool. Brayden, Itzhak, and Brandon have been flying high over the camp on the zip line at the rock wall, while Ryan L., Oliver, Zach, and Ryan W. have been bouncing to the stars at the Jumper. Clearly, the Otters have been having the Best Days Ever this summer. We are all looking forward to four more otterly exciting weeks of camp!

The Bobcats by Dan Levy (SC) and Matt Green (JC)

The Bobcats have been enjoying such a great summer so far and we can’t believe it is already the end of the fifth week! Our bunk has had lots of fun participating in the bunk show, gaga, wiffleball, and so much more. One of our unique features is many of our campers bring their Rubik’s cubes to camp every day to keep their minds fresh. We also had a great time at the fishing derby this week where we attempted to catch every last fish in the lake. We’ve had a great first couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to fill the rest of the summer with new experiences, memories, and a whole lot of fun. The Bobcats will always keep you on your toes trying to keep up with them, but that’s the best part of having a bunk on The Hill.

SOME FRIENDLY BRIARWOOD REMINDERS
• If you want to reach your camper’s counselor during the camp day, call the office at 215-598-7143 and we will gladly relay your message. Please do not TEXT or CALL your child’s counselor directly during the camp day. Our counselors are busy watching children and we have asked them not to check their phones during the day.
• Don’t forget to send your camper in with several masks each day. They have a way of disappearing (or breaking or getting dirty).
• Early and Late Care is available from 7:30 am—6:00 pm sharp. Please call the office if you will need this service.
• While it never rains at Briarwood, in the event of a passing shower, please send your camper with the appropriate rain gear should the forecast call for rain.
• Everyone should apply sunscreen daily prior to coming to camp.
• We have a lost and found at camp. It gets pretty full this time of year. Campers’ items should be marked or labeled before they come to camp.
• Did you miss a Bugle? You can find all of this summer’s Bugles in the news section of our website.
