We conclude with Part IV of our Series! Summer camp is a place for fun. It’s a place to try new things. It’s a time to make memories. At Briarwood Day Camp, in addition to our “regular” fun, different and memorable activities that kids don’t usually get to do – like gaga, the adventure course and the fabulous jumper – every summer we have specially scheduled events and traditions that our campers love, enjoy and remember.
We’ve got so many great special events that it’s too much for one article! So click on the links below to see even more.
Who doesn’t love Halloween? Briarwood campers (and staff) sure do! So every July, the kids and staff dress up, come to camp, trick or treat and have a TON of fun!
Our costume parade is amazing. You know what else is amazing? Some of the costumes – like these and these and this (we could go on . . . ).
Halloween in July is a highlight of the summer!
Yeah, Mystery Day is a strange one . . . but also a beloved Briarwood tradition.
What is it? Generally, it’s a Color War event. Between periods, we make an announcement through the PA system. “OK, this is a question for Lower Camp. What is the name of the Frankels’ dog? If you think you know the answer, see Rachael who is standing at the Rock Wall.” Or “This question for the CITs and Super CITs. What is the most popular first name in camp? If you think you know, see Jeri by the nurses’ office.”
Kids get so excited to answer. It’s a riot and a joy to see them sprinting through camp with excitement so they can give the answer and earn Color War points for their team. Hilarious. Memorable. Where else but camp?
